Facial composition of what I'm assuming is saitou in the first image is pretty far off. Second one is pretty ok.

I agree not low quality but debatable if off topic to danbooru. I don't have any felling one way or the other on that point.

Some is just bad art,
as two quick examples.
While some is danbooru quality being that the art is only so-so unless the mod is specifically interested in the content you won't get many general (random mod see the image) approvals.

Page 2 on for a very in depth read of the moderation system.
Basically outside of the rules approvals are totally subjective and up to the person approving the image.
A low quality image could be approved because someone in the mod queue likes it while a higher quality image might never be approved.
Images from comics follow a slightly different set of rules in so much the quality can be lower for the actual art which is assumed to be made up for with the story.
That of course does not mean the image will be approved since again it is up to a person in the mod queue viewing it to decide if the image does have merit.
The subjective nature causes confusion at times but it is what it is.
I started uploading some pictures by the same artist. Some got approved, others didn't. I don't quite understand why, there isn't really any difference in quality. Is the style not japanese enough for the mods?

So my posting history has been hit-or-miss: most recent posts passed (i.e. post #1082233, post #1044571) however others required deletion appeals (i.e. post #701533, post #688840) while still others apparently flew under the radar (post #761468, post #740221).
Is there some sort of "secret" to get your posts glossed over, or do I have to go back to the deletion appeal thread to plead my case? I also made a post this morning (post #1149938) that seems to have snuck under any potential approvers...
Of those, only post #701533 and post #1044571 are particularly appealing to me, and had I seen them in the queue (these must have escaped me), I'd have approved them without question.
Most of the rest are just on the wrong side of borderline in my opinion.
post #1149938 has sort of got a bad Photoshop vibe to me and is pretty far into the "defer / hide" category for me.
