Tag Discussion: style tags for socks/kneehighs/thighhighs

I was going to bring this up during the week but wasn't really on. When I saw ShadowbladeEdge had already put "see also" on each page I wish I had done it sooner ^^;; This is about the individual style and color tags for socks/kneehighs/thighhighs and so on. I wanted to know if a better alternative would be to cut down on them by using the term "_legwear".

Pattern example

• polk_dot_legwear (main tag)
• resulting in { polka_dot_legwear thighhighs }
• rather than [ polka_dot_thighhighs ]

Pattern w/ color example

• polk_dot_legwear / pink_legwear
• resulting in { polk_dot_legwear pink_legwear thighhighs }
• rather than [ polka_dot_thighhighs / pink_thighhighs / thighhighs ]
• mixed result { polk_dot_legwear pink_legwear thighhighs kneehighs }
• rather than [ polka_dot_thighhighs / polka_dot_kneehighs / pink_thighhighs / pink_kneehighs / *thighhighs / *kneehighs ] As I don't believe many of the style and color tags are implicated.

To use a current example

• { fishnets pantyhose }
• { fishnets thighhighs }

Although both have their own individual tag it appears simplified just to type what is seen in addition to the style it is in. So, I hope the examples were easy to read.

I think it's a good idea to make all the style/color tags be _legwear, as I really don't think people who are searching for e.g. polka dotted legwear care that much if it is thighhighs, kneehighs, etc. And if they do care, then they can add thighhighs or kneehighs tags.

I haven't thought too deeply on the matter, but right now I do think it'd probably be a good idea to use more general <style>_<catchall legwear> tags instead of having all these specific <style>_<legwear_subtype> tags.

Even if for some reason all the specific tags are kept because of support for them, then it would still probably be a good idea to make these catchall legwear tags to umbrella all the subtypes.

The legwear tags sound fine to me as long as someone goes through and gets the system up to date.

*_legwear + garment is a great idea.

Neat, I can make a list later but will it be possible to Alias all the individual style tags to certain _legwear tags when the time comes? Because it is the black and white that seem to have the majority of the images. And would stripes require a _legwear tag or just leave stripes as is like fishnets?

I think I was initially waiting to see if anyone had an objection, and then forgot about it.

What does the "minus" in your lists mean?

'Minus' means no need to alias, because currently no tag has been created for them, due to no image being available. For Loose_socks it is more obvious, since it is referring to a style of sock not the action of a sock being loose.

• Would you like to wait till April for more opinions on this? As it is a rather large request.
• If so, do you want the 'minus' ones to be aliased anyway as a just in case?

unico was just listing all the variations for each group, we may as well alias them all.

Ah, of course. Makes sense. Well, yeah, might as well do them anyway so it's consistent.

I went ahead with the color ones, after adding _type for all the color_type images that lacked type.

It's late so I won't do them all today but I'll try to get to the others soon. It'll take a little while for all these job tasks to run anyway. (especially when the black_* ones are rebelling against me... ::goes to restart them once more::)

In the meantime if anyone wants to make sure the _type exists on the other tags, feel free to add them!

Edit: okay wow a whole lot of them are erroring out on me. This could take a little while.

Oh yeah, toeless_leggings would just be leggings anyway. ha. Then again... wouldn't pantyhose be the same way? Might need to minus that one as well. But with this image post #817537, the topic forum #57454 it sort of sways me a bit.

Hope it makes things easier to search for and tag, since "legwear" is all that one would need to remember. I can try to find the 'MINUS' types, but not exactly expecting it.
