About safe rating

I wanted to talk a bit about the "safe" rating. What do you guys find safe? personally i find a lot of pics that are sexual suggestive not safe even tough they don't show any nudity like this post #822643

Or stuff thats aimed at somebody's behind, specifically any cameltoe is not safe imo, there is alot of safe cameltoe post #808848 or post #800162 Just by searching for "cameltoe rating:safe" will come up with massive ammounts of not safe work. Of the 45 pages atleast 40 is not safe in my book.

Also any posts that shows nipples is imo not safe, even if its being covered by clothing. Doing a search for "nipples rating:safe" turns up into completely nude girls.

Stuff tagged as guro should be not tagged safe by default. Seriously, this is a safe post #783973 ?

The how to rate topic on the wiki is a very good guideline, i think it would help if a link were to be put on the upload page. I'll shut it now.

"Safe" never really meant "SFW" or "Rated G" on Danbooru. If anything, it has been moving in the opposite direction as it was redefined to include more innocent nudity as of the last rejiggering of the rating system (forum #19183). Also the rating system judges only sexual explicitness, which is why guro can appear in it.

Heh, kinda makes you wonder if there is any way of getting only "safe" images from Danbooru, given that "safety" is such a subjective term. Particularly if guro images can be included.

Fortunately I've just decided to take the site as a whole, futa and all. Just skip over the stuff I know I won't like.

Yes. As the guideline says, ratings are about sexual content only. It's that simple.

I'd be inclined to agree. You can be very suggestive without showing any skin.

That's also mostly true, though I'd say that post #800162 is ever so mild that it really doesn't warrant being rated as questionable.

Okay, now you've lost me. Everyone has nipples under clothing, assuming they haven't undergone complete mastectomy. Also, there's a lot of perfectly safe nudity, and just being nude doesn't necessarily mean the pic is questionable (which was one of the points of the ratings redefinition). The intent is much more important than the percentage of skin visible.

That said, there are many clearly misrated pics, such as post #816238 which is not safe by any account, or mystery meat posts like #777534 which was inexplicably listed as safe, even though the tag history said it's been rated e at all points of its life. But they're still a minority, and the idea of having safe pics with nude people is very much by design.

As a side note, you can link to tag queries directly by enclosing them with double brackets (ie. {‌{ and }‌}). Like this: nude rating:s.

The pantyshot alone doesn't even merit a Questionable rating - not unless accompanied by detailed cameltoe. However, in that post, the panties are slid halfway down the legs, which is definitely evocative of a sexual situation and deserves a Q.

The Vita pic, Safe. It's a butt shot, yeah, but one with little to nothing in the way of "obscene" detail.

The Kuroneko pic, on the other hand, has some pretty H detail, thanks to those panties being cameltoed so much that they appear to be painted on. The outline of both major labia and the clitoral shaft is clearly visible.

A line or slight indentation isn't explicit enough to rise above Safe. Thorough and/or prurient detail is what determines it, not just the mere presence of cameltoe.

By that logic, a perfectly innocent pic of a mother bathing her son or daughter - with the mother's naughty bits covered - would be un-Safe. That is not kosher with me.

Ratings cover sexual content only. Violence does not merit a rating change, regardless of its mildness or severity.

Not a bad idea - or, rather, a prominent link to the howto:rate page on the already-linked Upload Guide would be a good idea.

With nipples i pretty much meant "erected" nipples, mostly seen on sexual suggestive pictures. Nudity is never safe in my book but considering the wiki says it is i'll leave it at that.

Safebooru is no longer affiliated with Danbooru, IIRC... and when it was, it still relied on correct ratings-tagging being done on Danbooru.

I've changed them both to explicit now, but I'm finding a lot of these, such as post #198558 and post #198556.

Just going down the first page of his tagging history, and looking only at posts he rated as S, pretty much all of them belong in rating:q or rating:e. In some cases, it's so very flagrant that there is no way he isn't vandalizing.

I've negged him for it.
