hey, are you lacking janitors, test janitors and mods?

This topic has been locked.

i ask this because i've been lurking in danbooru this days, seeing a lot of uncomplete pools, high quality images and doujinshis that weren't approved in 3 days.

So i wonder if the problem is that you don't have enough people for all the work.

the volume of work is so big... please can you open appliances for janitors at least?

so why do i see a lot of unapproved in three days images? the art is good and the deletion thread is full of then. you still don't do anything about it.

Can't you see how many people lke that images and you still don't approve then?...

Because our taste is better than yours.
Enjoy!

who has gave you better judgement at that? God perhaps? or some other guy? there are different tastes and you know that for some people somethings might be bad or good.

Now, if there is a lot of people waiting for that, then don't go with "all you people don't know what is a good image so i'll troll you and teach you a lesson". The users are danbooru, not the mods or the janitors. you should pay attention to then cause that's what makes this web the biggest booru imageboard.

should i look for people who thinks the same and start a thread to make you see how many people don't like your biased policies?

To put it what FeKa said in more diplomatic terms:

Everyone has different standards of quality. Danbooru's standards aim for high marks, and many things that the average user of Danbooru consider "high quality" seem rather dull to the Janitor staff.

If an image has gone three days without being approved, and doesn't get approved after being appealed in the Deletion Appeals Thread, then that means it went through the mod queue, was seen by dozens of Test Janitors/Janitors/Mods, and none of them thought it was of sufficient quality to belong on Danbooru.

As far as whether an image gets approved (or not) is concerned, the post's score and the positive comments given for it mean absolutely squat. It's been proven time and again that an image can receive at least a +10 score from Member-level users just for displaying bare breasts, so that's no determinant of actual image quality, and is useful only for determining its popularity.

edit: And I think you've got the wrong idea, here.
Danbooru is not a democracy. Albert owns and runs the site, so what he says, goes. He picks the Janitors and mods, therefore, they get to act on his authority.
If the general userbase is pleased, fine and good, but your satisfaction is not guaranteed.

I don't think its needed. I started off with a lot of poor images, and most of them were disapproved. I got into an argument but eventually saw that for one, they were poor images, and that fighting and being an ass wouldn't change that.

As for that, there is a thread where you can ask why images are not being approved. Generally you will get a response and tips for knowing that images will be approved.

As for the comic, I wouldn't upload something like that unless the art is good enough for it to stand on its own, or that you can at least partially translate it. Generally comics have a better chance to be appealed or pass approval if they are translated. Sometimes it can be approved because of the translation, because of a good story or something similar. Also be careful since a fair amount of artists don't want their work posted here.

It is a matter of taste here, but generally anatomical errors or poor art, or niche/unpopular subject matter is less likely.

All I can say is that it should be introduced, if not already, to the appeal process but otherwise I wouldn't fight for it.

Some people won't approve things outside their interests, and I see why that makes sense. You are probably are not going to care anyways and if it is niche enough, its not going to mean anything to you.

so tell me, this is good quality?

or this is pool host "high quality raw doujin" or a "high quality anime-style image"?

i can continue with a lot of approved posts or posts uploaded by the moderator staff or contributor staff, just need some time to lurk again and find then.

no, my problem is because i've uploaded doujins allways, people likes then and translate then. I cannot translate then. And yeah, i've uploaded a doujin made by the same artist of other that got approved, it's a high quality doujin plus the artist has let me personally to upload it here.

http://danbooru.donmai.us/post?tags=status%3Adeleted+pool%3A2227+&commit=Search

and still don't get approved. and other "high quality raw doujins" get approved.

but i think that won't mean anything to you, you are on your high mountain and don't care what others think and no one can do anything about it so "why should we care".

If you'd taken the time to check, you'd realize that those were uploaded by Contributor-level users.

Posts by users of that level bypass the moderation queue entirely, thus they don't get judged by the Janitors unless they're flagged.

If you disagree with the quality of an approved post, flag it for review like anyone else does/should do.

Also, please do what I did and use post #XXXX for linking to posts.

Now you're just using bad examples. The art in those is quite good.

Good quality is a highly subjective term and you are being way too argumentative about this. As for the three posted there, I don't view them as being bad per se, not as good as some other works, but things like bkubb aren't what I would call as technically good art, as much as it is distinctive and its a stylistic choice (I guess, unless that's really the only way he can draw)

A better way to argue your point is to provide some type of reason why these posts are so bad, rather than just linking to them. If the thumbnails are anything to go by, your comic you are fighting for doesn't have great art/original subject matter either.

But I'm not an expert.

I also don't think the art world works differently, honestly, since there are specific museums/movements that focus on one art and work more by how much it fits with their personal beliefs and how much they like it, or how well it communicates an idea. There is a bias, but that is because people are human.

If you want to upload things without the hassle of a moderation queue, which will be inherently biased, there are other booru imageboards, and different imageboards that focus on one or more niches.

Comics, for touhou especially, I would first post on voile and wait to see if its picked up, if not I would be careful in uploading it to danbooru.

to sgc donmai

and the wiki says that still contributor level images are checked some times to mantain the quality right? as for that pool, it doesn't fulfill the standards of what you state in the wiki help. I'm not against it and i like it. I'm not trying to make a negative thesis (delete), i'm trying to make a possitive one (let people have their way on images they like as they are the main users of this imageboard). If there is a lot of people who likes the art, take that into consideration for approval.

To Anelaid

I won't troll another guy who loves his artist. I simply let it pass cause they have something they like and a lot more people likes it. So i won't flag an image unless is strictly neccessary from my ethic point of view (guro yukkuri, any type of guro art without any real pun on it; even so, i don't go searching for guro images just to flag then).

Kamo nari's style is like that. Just see the kamo_nari tag and you should see what i mean. Besides it's his first released work. Of course he has gotten better over time.

As for voile it has already been posted there.

Ah, you see, your thesis violates the bedrock principle of Danbooru.

We opperate on exclusivity and not treating popularity as an equivalent measure of quality. We don't really care that a lot of people like an image, if those of us ranked Janitor+ don't like it, it doesn't get approved. Contributors gained their position through contributing many high quality posts, and it is a privilege that can and has been revoked.

It is, in short, entirely unfair and elitist of us. And that is the point.

Also, Danbooru is not an imageboard.

to anelaid:

i've got the new doujins of him shipped directly by the artist to have then and upload then here. And they have a good quality. Also i've uploaded some good quality art of him before.

To fencedude:

That's my point, what makes you a better judge than me or other people? i could be in the same position as you and still we would have the same problem. There is a problem: People dislike the way the mod college treat the approval process cause they think it's biased (and it's really biased considering what you can find approved).

The solution: a) taking into consideration people tastes cause it's unfair to only take in consideration your tastes and that is per se a despicable attitude.

b) open the mod college and let enter people that isn't your friends. I got badly impressed when i saw that you have to literally worship the mod college to get something more than a member account in this imageboard. Very despicable.

well... my main point is, people don't like how the mod college works in the approvals. As danbooru isn't a comunity of only the mod college, you should pay atention to the members. You are almost having these made as a private imageboard for your only enjoyment.
