In the time since topic #28342, nothing has been done about these tags, not to mention even more have popped up since then. So here is my attempt to try that BUR again, this time with all of them on it. Who on earth is actually searching for specifically colored hair streaks? It just feels too granular to have, in my opinion. I don't see the use of them for the majority of users on here, especially as we are trying to move away from these highly specific tags. So let's nip this in the bud once and for all.

I don't search for specifically colored hair streaks either, but I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment from topic #28342:

On the contrary I hate when I search say, green hair, and get post which aren't predominantly green post #7854694 post #7841372 post #7385260 it's frustrating

Two-tone or other types where the color distribution is more evenly split is fine, but a small strand polluting search results isn't what I'm looking for.

I would prefer a solution that wouldn't add images like these to red hair.

It seems useful to me to be able to search, say, red_hair -red_streaks

Wouldn't you want the opposite instead, assuming these streaked hair colour tags are not meant to be used together with their respective hair colour? It seems far more likely to me that people would be using these to search the exceptions and avoid using a full colour tag when a streak exists. Sounds to me at least like the intention for streak colour tags was to produce this search result naturally.

Not that I think it's really that good though.

I would agree, but I have been repeatedly told that not tagging the streaks with the hair_color tag is missing a tag. If we could exclude red_streaks from red_hair it would be the best possible solution. Searching male_focus + green_hair and getting pages of tighnari_(genshin_impact) is the most frustrating experience. Hair_color tags should be the predominant color not a small accent.

Builders can never agree on this one - I've been told both angles the same, that - for example - a red streak should be tagged red hair, but also that sometimes it's not significant enough to be tagged that. My current style due to this weird double-angles take is to not use a hair colour tag with streaked hair unless the hair is considerably streaked by the alternate colour. It feels clean to me personally.

Streak colour tags allow some mutual exclusivity on full hair colour tags, that's one thing, but I generally don't like tagging streaks at all which is why I voted in favour of the nuke. That being said, I do agree with your frustration about that.

These streak tags are bad, period. They follow the inefficient trend of having to exclude five different tags rather than just search for a single tag. For them to actually work the way everyone's clamoring they do and let us search for hair that's mainly one color, we'd need a search like red_hair -red_streaks -red_inner_hair -red_tips -red-striped_hair -red_hair_roots. However, those other tags don't even exist, making color_streaks extra useless.

If you want to find characters with mostly red hair, then you should just tag mostly_red_hair. I'm open to better names, but the idea itself is sound. The very existence of (and recent uptick in) characters with multicolored_hair, and the multitude of different ways that multicolored hair can be depicted, means that the only real solution to this is to invert the current approach. Instead of having to create, maintain and exclude 50 other tags, all we'd need is one for each color, which can then imply the base hair color tag.

I'll admit there's still inconvenience in this approach, because searching for mostly red hair and completely red hair at the same time is impossible. However, both individual searches (red_hair -multicolored_hair and mostly_red_hair) are very simple and easy to use, and a vast improvement over the patchwork mess that would be necessary to maintain red_hair -red_streaks -red_inner_hair -red_tips -red-striped_hair -red_hair_roots.
