MCYT BUR Thread

The bulk update request #28618 (forum #293257) has been rejected by @Heartcatcher.

MCYT has all the same issues as a term as minecraft youtube does (since it's the same term just acronymed) and we generally try not to have acronyms in tags. This is also why I used the term I did for QSMP; I am aware that its branding doesn't call it the Quackity SMP, but I don't want to count on nobody else ever founding an SMP with a name that starts with the letter Q.

Sure, someone could in the future, but Q is an uncommon letter and I don't really know if "theoretically someone could create another SMP with the letter Q that happens to be notable enough to cause ambiguity with this extremely popular server that is just called QSMP" is a good enough reason to not use the official name of the series :P

I don't think we need separate chartags for every Origins SMP character, usually just the player's tag and OSMP's copytag is enough (especially for cases like Sneegsnag who pretty much looks the same regardless), but these ones are quite visually distinct, commonly depicted in self cosplay (post #7657041) or character swaps (post #7851181) with their other counterparts, and have accepted fan nicknames.

Nevertheless, they should still probably imply the main tag for their player like the Empires SMP characters now do.

Edit: I totally forgot Tubbo had two origins. Those should be included here too.

Honestly I don't know why I said most series are less complicated than Empires in the OP... My brain was not working that day I guess.

Anyways, I've been trying to establish a good system for dealing with servers that have a wide variety of variants for players such as the decade-old Hermitcraft or oddities like Afterlife SMP and New Life SMP where each character reincarnates into numerous different forms.

I set up sort of "starter" wikis for GoodTimesWithScar, Grian, GeminiTay and PearlescentMoon, and I think they're pretty good for a starting point? I've been only making tags for designs that deviate significantly from the default design of the player's character and are used for more than just a one-time thing. I'm also trying to keep names as official as possible, which thankfully isn't too hard.

So for example, I decided against tagging Gem's Forestborn ALSMP origin, because it's pretty much identical to her default costume other than a different hair flower. Whereas her other origins are much more visually distinct. I also decided against tagging Scar's matador skin separately since it's easily covered by goodtimeswithscar_(elvish) official_alternate_color.

Tag gardening and wikis are super fun and relaxing to me. I'll do a BUR later, but for now I'd like to wait and see if anyone has any suggestions or issues with how I've been handling these guys.

I've started setting up chartag wikis that include actual visual references, based on the ones vtubers and gacha characters tend to have. I've done Karl Jacobs, Technoblade, BadBoyHalo, Skeppy, and Quackity (+ ElQuackity) so far.

This wiki format lends itself well to these guys, I think.

Whoops, looks like precedent for qualifier order for these non-specific type of qualifiers is the other way around.

That vtuber name is wrong. Qualifiers should go more specific -> less specific. See forum #258272.
