Well, this is a revised request about caterpillar tracks. This time I removed implications on tracked vehicle since non-vehicle things (such as some mecha) can have tracks as attachments too.

This time, I would like to rename the current tag for caterpillar tracks into the more universal word "continuous tracks" instead, since the tag is not limited to a style of tracks developed by Caterpillar and to disambiguate a bit from caterpillar (the animal). I also added some aliases of the more common word to refer to these devices (such as tank tracks).

I've never heard them called caterpillar tracks tbh.

The term is old, going back to the earliest commercial tracked tractors in the United States, developed around the same time as UK companies were developing similar tracked tractors. The origin seems to differ to some degree depending on source, but the popularity of it came from the US company Caterpillar Inc. (the largest construction equipment manufacturer in the world going by Wikipedia) which began selling their patented tracked tractors and machines in the US in the early 1900's. Early on the name "caterpillar" (most stories attribute it due to the movement of the treads) was picked up by the Holt Manufacturing Company and began referring to their products as "Caterpillar Tractors." By 1910 they were going by Holt Caterpillar Company, and through a merger with another tractor company formally changed their company name in 1925 to Caterpillar during a merger.
