Blackbeard and whitebeard tags (one piece)

create alias marshall_d._teach -> blackbeard_(one_piece)
create alias edward_newgate -> whitebeard_(one_piece)

Both are much more well known with their nicknames than their actual names, much like how we use the hero names for BNHA characters.
For those unfamiliar with OP, that bit is also mentioned in the links above.

I thought they could use a qualifier by now as well.
Blackbeard’s real name could even be considered an unnecessary spoiler, so I think making it less visible is a good thing.

I don't care enough to reread back chapters of One Piece to confirm, but Blackbeard's crew still refers to him as "Teach" in recent chapters. Nicknames, alias, and epithets in One Piece can—and do—change throughout the story; Sakazuki (formerly Akainu) and Kuzan (formerly Aokiji) are two prominent examples.

I was not referring to the actual name, but the D in his name. That has story implications that we don't really find out about until later.

And sure, characters might call him that but in the community most people simply refer to them by their nicknames. This is the same as the case in forum #192479.

The wiki I linked outright introduces them like this

Marshall D. Teach,[16] most commonly referred to by his epithet Blackbeard...
Edward Newgate,[12] more commonly known as "Whitebeard"....

I mean, which comes first, learning his full name, or learning what the D in a bunch of characters' name means? That's what determines if it's a spoiler. I unfortunately can't recall which comes first.

I'd also say it's not that much like the MHA situation, because in MHA the adult heroes are almost never referred to by their real names either in narration or by other characters. Someone who's read MHA is just as likely to not know their real names as someone who hasn't, because their names are usually only mentioned once and then almost never again. Blackbeard is still called by his real name by some characters, plus the significance of his name makes it more prominent in a reader's mind, compared to characters like Endeavor who literally no one calls Enji.

And sure, the wiki mentions their epithets in the very first line, but it also uses their full real names as the titles of the pages. I would support this alias going the other direction.

I assume the wiki uses the names as the titles for consistency sake with other fandom sites.
For example
https://myheroacademia.fandom.com/wiki/Enji_Todoroki

I don't mind it going the other way around much if nothing else. But I'm just following what I've observed on previous BURs and about how we deal with these situations.

Having the more used name as the tag would help discoverability even outside danbooru, for example in google images.

OK so this not going anywhere is not sitting right with me so I'll do this as a compromise... I don't like it because it's inconsistent but hey it's better than nothing.

Let's use Google as a reference.

  • Searching Edward newgate on google yields About 5,260,000 results.
  • Searching Whitebeard on google yields About 20,100,000 results.

Don't think I need to say more regarding that.

Blackbeard is the opposite, it seems.

  • Blackbeard yields About 21,000,000 results
  • "Blackbeard One Piece" yields About 9,620,000 results
  • "Marshall Teach One Piece" yields About 22,400,000 results

I'll let the admins choose which BUR they prefer. I would rather it be consistent between them, but I guess Blackbeard is much more commonly called by his real name than Whitebeard.
