Complaint about "builders"

Posted under General

This topic has been locked.

This is a recurring issue I keep coming across. For some reason, many builders on this website are very opinionated on specific users and believe it's okay to mock, be rude, or straight up say out-of-line shit to specific users.

I myself am one of these users. It happened again today on post #5584067. For some context (which is personal, but it appears it will be needed), I'm on psychiatric medicine that makes my thoughts jumble together, makes me more forgetful than usual, the typical shit like that. But blindVigil, who has been obsessed with arguing with me, decided it was okay to assume shit about me and make fun of me publicly for it... on a post that doesn't even concern me. I was actually agreeing with them on some things.

There is no doubt that some of my replies can be "off." Even I'm aware of this. However, there's clearly rude intent in that message and, when reported, nothing happened. It only got more likes, presumably from other builders who believe it's okay for builders to say whatever they want. A "rules for thee but not for me" kinda situation.

This isn't the first time I've had a problem with builders/mods going out of their way to be outright rude to me. I'm not good with my words, I'm terrible at English, and I have had to explain all this various times in the past.

Why is that okay, but if any other user says something similar it would get them banned? Because of some petty vendetta? Why is there no system in place for us to properly report mods or builders? And other people reading this, go through my forum posts and look through my replies. I'm certain most of you will be able to tell that I'm not "normal" in my responses, it's clear as day that something isn't "normal" about how I reply to stuff. I'm sure even some of my wording here is funny.

(? are builders mods?)

Builders are not mods. They are just users that have been around for a while and made a lot of contributions.

I don't know where did you gett the idea that there is a secret cabal of builders and mods and that builders never get banned. Builders are not above the rules and there have been plenty cases of builders getting banned for improper behavior, some of the who have been on the site for more than a decade (hell, one of the bans I linked was in the wake of this fabricated Bridget nontroversy).

Still, they do get extra privileges, right? Why is there no way to report them, and why do they have the special ability to bypass the first rules on here? https://danbooru.donmai.us/wiki_pages/help:community_rules

The extra privileges are related to site features, such as more complex searches and using tag scripts.

Builders are not exempt from the rules, can be reported just like all other users, like you did, and can get banned like everyone else. If you look around, you’ll notice that non-builders get away with breaking the first rule too, though. This is the Internet and as sad as it is, the Internet is not a particularly friendly place. If you take part in a heated discussion(?) of a controversial topic, be prepared to take some damage. This is especially true on Danbooru, which is an image board, not some kind of discussion site where discussions are moderated perfectly. Lengthy discussions in the comments are actually disliked by probably most of the userbase and will regularly get voted down. We also get our fair share of trolls and confrontational users in the comments, so patience with people who are hard to talk to for whatever reason is pretty limited. If this is too much verbal rough-housing for you, maybe you should stay out of the comments.

It's biased, is it not? Let's say a mod sees a report about another mod who they know personally, what would happen then?

If they break the rules they get warned and/or demoted based on how serious the rule-breaking is, just like any other member.

Is a member (such as myself) able to post a negative feedback on that page? Or would it just be for mods, or are builders included? I was a builder on my previous account and never had to do anything like that, but I've forgotten a lot of who gets what.

Ah, I was on the hellsite known as Twitter for a few years in the past. I've definitely gotten worse on there. But keep in mind, in this specific case, the builder in question was also being rude to me on the forum as well.

Only gold or higher can issue feedbacks, and you shouldn't normally give someone a Negative feedback before messaging them first and trying to solve the issues that way.

There are still people downvoting that comment about me that wasn't relevant to the discussion at all. It's embarrassing, I've already reported it but no one is really helping me out here. I'm here to post anime art, not be berated by some random builder making some assumption about me. They still haven't even been punished for it at all despite rules obviously being broken.

So are gold users the "mods", in a sense?

Yes, I wrote “comments”, but it applies to heated discussions on the forum as well.

Downvoting comments aren't against the rules, only if you create socks to downvote a comment multiple times or downvote all of a users comments.

No, not the downvotes. What's against the rules is them publicly being rude to me about something I can't control and calling me annoying. This has happened in the forum as well. It's still embarrassing nonetheless, though. And the comment is about me, and if I myself reported it and it's still up...

Wait, I'm only seeing blue names?

Go to your user settings and enable colored usernames.

If your comment is getting multiple downvotes, then multiple users don’t like it. This isn’t feel-good Facebook or Youtube where scores can’t be negative.

Btw, I was the one who checked the comment you reported. I found it to be rude but not insulting. You need to grow some thicker skin if you want to survive on the Internet.
