Tag Implication: all TYPE-MOON related material to TYPE-MOON

Studio tags are awful, stupid, and should not be implicated, ts there some reason why type moon is an exception to this?

Care to elucidate? I'm afraid I don't quite understand why you feel this way. It seems reasonable to me, especially as everything they do tends to be interrelated somehow anyway.

We've discussed it before and it was deemed a terrible idea, see forum #9531

albert also explained how copy -> copy implications are accepted.

If most of the characters are the same across all type-moon games feel free to correct me but this will set a bad precedent where someone adds Key to every air, clannad and kanon image, request an implication, and point to this implication as to why they did it and why believe it was the right thing to do.

Looking over that thread, I don't see anything declaring it particularly terrible. In fact, it looks like it was left to the will of the community.
-I note there's the concept of IP changing hands, which seems sort of irrelevant for most of the things mentioned: I sort of don't see someone buying up Type-Moon and changing the name any time soon.
-There's an argument that it offers nothing compelling in terms of searching for a tag, which I'm likewise not certain I agree with, especially when you consider things like breasts and long_hair have close to zero granularity at this point simply because of their frequency and subjective aspects. This also does nothing for the scenario where, "Crap, who was that girl with the buns? I'm sure she was from some capcom game...."

It was also declared that, for now, it would not be made automatic, so I guess that may rule these implications out.

Say, what about things that share the same writer? You'll have a lot of difficulty telling me that most of those weren't written by kinoko_nasu....

Comparing T-M works to Capcom or Gainax is a pretty huge exaggeration. All of their works are set in the exact same universe with the same cosmology, laws, systems, etc and share essential figures and characters, which make some cameos or are mentioned from time to time.

That list is almost entirely comprised of sequels/prequels/tie-ins to Tsukihime and Fate/stay night, and the one time one of these was not set in the same universe (KnK), it was not only set in an exactly identical one with confusingly crossover-prone characters, it merited one of the games outright coming out and saying that the characters from Tsukihime and Rakkyo could not meet because of consistency issues.

The thing is, a Type_Moon tag would serve the role of a blanket franchise tag rather than a studio, unless you feel like making up one for that.

I'm a fan of umbrella copyright tags myself. I'm not going to do anything with this quite yet (it's not quite the same as a Dragon Quest or Gundam implication in my mind), but I don't see any particular downsides either. ::shrugs::

I don't think this is a terrible idea at all, I can't really say why aside from that it just makes sense. The listed tags belong to TYPE-MOON, and it wouldn't be incorrect to tag them that way, so having it as an implication doesn't seem wrong.

Then again, at this moment, I couldn't really point out a huge benefit either.

I've heard the word "nasuverse" used a lot, not sure if it's just a fan-created name though.

"Nasuverse" for western fans, "Kinoko World" for the Japanese. Both fan-made, there's no official name for it.

Type-Moon (hyphenated, not spaced) is definitely the most official and safest. If we conceded to nicknames, we might end up with Kinoko World instead of Nasuverse, and that wouldn't be good.

Type-Moon also just feels more correct and general than Nasuverse and co.

Updated

nasuverse can be aliased to kinoko_world or vice-versa they're both unique tags, the decision needs to be what the tag to be used. Again, anything that can be misconstrued as a studio tag is not good.

Semantically, "nasuverse" or "kinoko world" would be better than "type-moon", since technically type-moon could produce something that was unconnected to kinoko nasu's particular fictional universe. Even if nasu were to write something unrelated to the "nasuverse", at least the tag is not directly named after him, so we can still claim it to be defined as we wish. But "type-moon", if used, should certainly refer to anything made by the company type-moon. Am I right?
