[Fate] Catch-all tags for Lancelot & Medusa

Posted under Tags

BUR #2833 has been rejected.

create implication berserker_(fate/zero) -> lancelot_(fate)_(all)
create implication lancelot_(fate/zero) -> lancelot_(fate)_(all)
create implication lancelot_(fate/grand_order) -> lancelot_(fate)_(all)
create implication rider -> medusa_(fate)_(all)
create implication medusa_(lancer)_(fate) -> medusa_(fate)_(all)
create implication gorgon_(fate) -> medusa_(fate)_(all)
create implication medusa_(lancer_alter)_(fate) -> medusa_(fate)_(all)

Frankly, I'm surprised that these two prolific Servants with multiple variants still haven't received catch-all tags (not to mention Cú Chulainn was already remarkably late to receive his own). I'll throw in a casual reminder that Medb, a character with fewer than 800 posts, received one with her summer alt, which barely has any representation at all to begin with. Another example is Ishtar, though I will say she's not nearly as egregious as Medb.

For the reasons described above, I have made this request to add catch-all tags for both Lancelot and Medusa.

F/Zero Berserker is definitely a spoiler, and the FGO excuse doesn't qualify for him because his FGO appearance is a separate Saber variant. Rider/Medusa I'm actually not sure if anyone actually considers a spoiler at this point, but she appears in FGO so everyone should know who she is by now.

I don't have any issue with Medusa implications, but I wouldn't agree with F/Zero Berserker unless he makes a proper appearance in FGO.

Edit: Scratch that, he's in FGO too, I just overlooked him, so it probably doesn't matter as much.

I'd say to wait for a moment on the decision, i'm currently working on a Great Fate Character Retagging Project mk2 project (for reference, the original is topic #13728, where apparently a lot of people including admins were against a Medusa_(all) tagging because of spoilers?), to decide what to do for tags.
I'm currently busy with irl stuff, but by the end of the month i should be able to make the forum topic.

-1. The spoiler debate hasn't been resolved yet.

A forum topic should definitely be made, to decide once and for all the fate (heh) of Fate/* tags.

I was originally against it too, but that was 3 years ago. At this point I'm not sure you can learn about Fate without passing through F/GO, so not sure if there's any point in preventing spoilers, especially for Rider since her alternative form is literally called "Gorgon"...

Because some people don't like having things spoiled to them, we even have a spoilers tag for that very purpose.

The problem here is that the tag itself is a spoiler, not the artwork.
I'm personally against spoilery tags, like niyah_(blade), especially if you can't avoid them.

But since fate/* character tagging is a mess, there needs a decision on whether to keep true names hidden or not.

I know, that's what I said.

Misinterpreted then, sorry

@iamtakingiteasy is actually not wrong though. If you want to see it from an absolutist manner, you can just use true names and call it a day. We're an image database after all.

Caring about hidden names is more of a "user experience" kind of thing. Some people probably use danbooru without/with little fear of being spoiled. Using true names would mean they will probably stop using danbooru/avoid danbooru and other image sites until they finished a game or something. I personally am happy that archer's true name wasn't spoiled for me, despite being a newcomer to the fandom.

I feel like the best thing to do is to hold a site-wide poll, maybe announce it too, and ask people for their opinion on spoilers. A forum post could be made, and score could be tracked like a BUR post, to avoid people botting/using alt accounts to vote.
