Touhou Individual Game Tags Still in Use?

Posted under General

(Transferring my original post from Danbooru 2 Issues)

I was reviewing tag changes on some of my old uploads, and I noticed that a series of cosplaying Snoopy images by Chamupei, all characters from Legacy in Lunatic Kingdom (e.g., post #2241041), had been stripped of their legacy_in_lunatic_kingdom tag. Checking the user who did so (Quwanti), I find that a large number of that user's tag changes involve removing game-specific title tags on Touhou posts. Did we decide to do away with those, or is this a unilateral decision on the part of the user? And if so, should those changes be reverted?

From what I understand there should be a reference to the game in question in the image for it to be tagged with an individual work. One common example is all of the characters from a particular game in the image. Another could be a particular scene from that game.

Not sure if others are fond of using that tag to mark a particular outfit being used, however I'm not sure what else to do since I floated the idea of using an outfit tag as a separate tag in topic #14041 without getting a lot of traction.

Yeah, I think game specific tags are only to be used when the picture either:
A) Especially references that game's events (eg post #2757596 post #2703429)
B) Contains basically all the characters released/present in that game, or at least a vast amount of them (eg post #2352219 post #2247143)
C) Or, since nothing really came out of topic #14041, when a game/print work specific outfit is present (eg post #2718267 post #2681092)

If it's just, I dunno, a picture of a single character (post #2000838) or things like post #2344748 post #2344749 that don't reference the game at all aside from having one or two characters from it, it probably shouldn't have the game specific tag.

Checking user's tag changes however, they are removing hidden_star_in_four_seasons from tanned_cirno posts, which, was that agreed on? Should be a normal use of the tag under C) condition.
I remember the discussion arising but I don't remember if a decision was reached.

EDIT: Well, forum #131114 is relevant to this - that rule is from the touhou tag wiki, but it sounds a little overly restrictive. And it's also really blurry what counts as being "directly referenced."

Updated

Thanks for the input. I can't speak for the other posts that particular user has trimmed of their game-specific title tags, but the ones I did were posted as a group when Legend of Lunatic Kingdom came out. While each depicts a Snoopy version of only one character, as a group, they show all the new characters from that game. So...maybe?

I notice that all three of Flandre5carlet's examples for what shouldn't have the game-specific tag still have such tags, but I don't know how much significance to ascribe to it.

I'm not going to rant about it if the removal of said tags from the posts I put up is considered proper under the consensus rules of the site (such as they are). It makes game-specific searching of Chamupei's art a little trickier, but one can simply browse his most recent posts, since he hasn't been very prolific online since that game came out. I just want to be sure it wasn't an improper move or even outright tag vandalism.

Yeah, I specifically picked those examples because they had the tag but probably shouldn't. I'm just on mobile and a bit lazy to remove tags from here.

All in all, it's kind of a blurry line imo.
