The quality is still horrible, but a flag reason without text is a bit...thinn.
Feels a bit redundant to flag a post as old as that one too, unless danbooru has started to cull ancient posts like that now?

We've been flagging older posts than that for a long time. I'm not defending the lazy flag, just pointing out that the "grandfather clause" ceased to be a thing years ago and old garbage is fair game for flagging.

I wonder how many times it's been said, but the grandfather clause isn't enacted anymore. Flagging any post (with a sufficient reason) is fair game, no matter the age.
That's right, go through the gallery and flag old stuff. We'll take care of it.
EDIT: slime is quick on the uptake.

I always chuckles from the inside that lots of the old post that got flagged are from albert himself
Gotta populate the site with something to get things started and attract users who generate new content. Also, there was no Pixiv or anything like that in the beginning of Danbooru, so it was harder to actually find good art. Plus, I guess he didn’t even know at first where to go with Danbooru.

Majority of them aren't though. Back in ancient times, that I've not witnessed, you could upload here anonymously. Danbooru 1 supported the 'anonymous' handle in the uploader field. Danbooru 2 doesn't and all those uploads got merged to his name.
No, all that anonymous content got mapped to user #13 (MD Anonymous) a while ago.
Edit: I guess the anonymous posts didn’t get mapped to user #13 after all.

I can't say much about anonymous uploading because it was deprecated before I've started using the site, but Wypatroszony is probably right that such posts were mapped to albert's account.
As for anonymous comments. I don't know when exactly the option to add them was removed, but comments themselves were marked as anonymous up until the transition to Danbooru 2 in 2013. At that point albert tried to move all of them to his account too, but this created some problems, because admin comments couldn't be downvoted (and it was also weird to have all of them attributed to him). So he chose some abandoned account instead (user #13) and moved previously anonymous comments to it.
Some examples that were posted by "Anonymous" (user id NULL) according to a database dump from 2007:
I think if an account was deleted (in the past) all of their posts and comments got labelled Anonymous too. "User #nnnn" is an improvement.

you're the one asking for quality checks on al the caps and cap comics? Can't really fault it, they generally are pretty low quality.
Not all, only the majority, though. The ones you can see right now in the flag history are not fro m me^^.
But I'm glad that also other people are doing such flags.

We don't flag duplicates or is this here something special.

This one has poor compression compared to the parent.

Flagging based on compression would naturally extend itself to flagging and deleting all non-pixiv/seiga sources (Twitter, Tumblr, Pawoo, Amazon, etc.) where a pixiv/seiga source exists. It is quite the slippery slope, and you should be careful.

Not the flagger myself, but the compression artifacts are fairly noticeable, and since the source image is a game CG, they were likely introduced by a third party. Multiple first-party copies with different levels of compression is a different issue, especially since many artists post finished works on Twitter or Pawoo before Pixiv nowadays.

^ This was my reasoning on declining it. I don't think we flag on compression artifacts if it is from a well-known and trusted source (artist's Twitter/Tumblr/Pawoo/etc) but for things like these where the image is unsourced and can be easily found in better quality (game cg), then it's fair game to me if the one that's notably worse gets deleted.
Of course, this is more the current guidelines on the gallery now applying to ancient posts, but I don't find too much contention. Given the flag could be worded better, but I think I understood the general nuance behind it. We as approvers sometimes move queued posts straight to deletion for being unsourced duplicates of lower quality whenever we see fit (as no one will accidentally favorite those posts when they could favorite the obviously better ones).

Hmm, you can flag something while it's in the queue? I thought only some users (ones with approval privs) could do it and the rest couldn't, but maybe that's changed.

Don't know what you mean. The post is already 7 days old, so it should not be pending anymore.
But yes, it used to be possible, some users received feedback for flagging pending posts. If it is still possible, then it should be changed.
