Flag Vandalism

Posted under General

I couldn't find a proper thread for this but someone removed the chromatic_abberation_abuse tags from their images.
Does this count as some kind of abuse because that tag was pretty useful if you didn't want to go blind.
I already added them back.

I reckon a whole new thread (or reviving the old one) is necessary for this, judging by the still-ongoing discussion on the DOOM picture.

All I'll say here is that I'm of the opinion that "Western art of a western subject"/"WWW" is not a valid flag reason when that same artist primarily draws original and anime related works that have been widely accepted here (eg. post #2629682) and that an artist's origins should not factor into whether art is acceptable here or not.

Indeed.
Also I wonder what topic #13725 -> forum #126858 actually wants to express with "The large amount of high quality artwork."
There isn't mentioned "of high quality japanese artwork". So I assume that users are appreciating the variety of posts and styles they can find here @albert ?
If yes, then flagging western, because it's western seems wrong. It seems that it doesn't pursue the goal of this site...

I've always found that 3rd W to be completely absurd, it should be about the art, not the artist's nationality or ethnicity. Basing it on whether the artist is generally an "anime-style" artist who happened to draw some realistic art too; that makes a lot more sense

The whole thing is just starting to stink of xenophobia.

What's next, we decide what kind of "Asian" is allowed?

What a canard this is. Could you stop pushing this notion that there's some sort of racial animus behind not wanting western art? It's not constrictive assumes bad faith.

Strictly speaking, unless the user is of the same "kind of Asian" as who made the stuff they prefer (I.E. Japanese, most likely), then they would be xenophiles for liking it, or, if we were insistent upon a "-phobia" word for rejecting their own culture, wouldn't the term technically be a "homophobe"?...

I'll edit the help:flag_notice with a quick edit that is about the Jpeg artifacts part, because it doesn't speak the whole truth.

"An exception to this is if the image was uploaded by the artist and there are no higher quality versions available."

I think giving it some time (over 5 hours) and it seems that there are no objections. Anyways, I've added the exception to this since this is a direct quote from the ToS.
As you can see, this is mostly against bad scans and other stuff where the original artist is not the "author" (see g.e-hentai). If things are unclear (or maybe contradictory), then they should get mentioned :3.

I've looked through some and only two link two link to some pixiv pages. These images are not re-approved, yet. Not all show some results when searching with SauceNao. post #1942212 for example doesn't get me a pixiv (or similar) page.
But if these flags are being flagged by @Guilty343 then please upload the pixiv versions and flag later. But also flagging seems off, because "we" don't flag duplicates.

He's... Argentinian, so I have trouble talking to him since I don't know Spanish. If someone can assist him it would be much appreciated.

He must've misread something I mentioned in a Dmail I sent to him, because it's not to be used like that --"

You've been forgetting. Also, they're called pixiv samples. Pixiv. not pivix.

Hahaha wrote badly without realizing it, on the other hand I wanted to ask you, some images that remain were of twitter but now they are not in that page. The only source I found is in pivix but the weight of the files do not match those of pivix, should upload the images of pivix and place flag to those found in danboruu?

Yes, if the twitter image isn't available anymore and you know it's a sample, go ahead and upload the pixiv original.

That being said, you should always look for the pixiv/seiga/nijie original first -- it's the best version of the picture you can find. Use SauceNAO. Then you can flag the sample you had before.

No. That's left in there because we don't flag everything under bad anatomy, bad proportions, etc.

You can't change flag notices just because they don't suit your liking. He's technically correct, and that wording is intentionally subjective and up to the basis of janitors to decide.

That's why I asked, because it seems that there are things unclear :3. So instead of hearing that over and over again, I thought that it could get revised.

Think about if it wasn't there. Users could then be compelled to flag everything with bad anatomy, bad proportions, bad perspective at an attempt to be useful because we never mentioned that sometimes bad anatomy is acceptable. It'd be a lot of trouble if we had to review more than we really needed to because of that non-exception.

So it needs to be there. Yes, a flag is for review, but it isn't an black/white issue.
