Uploader and Approver Complaints on Low Quality Images

Oh it only stores relative to your other favorites? Welp.

It uses id for ordering yes.

I guess you could look at how close the ids are to see if they were favorited around the same time. It wouldn't be that accurate though since it would depend how many other people are favoriting things around the same time as you, which wouldn't be constant.

So has anyone actually signed up for becoming a janitor yet?

They certainly aren't doing it in this thread, if they are...

albert said to let him know, so I just d-mailed him directly instead of posting here.

I choose not to, seeing as I'm mostly a lurker when I'm not uploading, and I'd ignore most of the images in queue.

And apparently, I have a bias towards bikinis, given my favorites list (I actually found out like a week ago that this was the case).

Edit: @hillside, could very well be both.

Same.

Funny thing to me about all this (debate over criterion for picking Janitors) is that I so far find myself generally holding approvals to a much higher standard than my favorites list.

Also I can see how it seems images are generally immediately approved or languish for not-quite-three-days, as was mentioned much earlier in this thread, I think. It's just how they're presented; one tends to find unapproved images either via status:pending or the front page (newest posts first) or the moderation queue (oldest posts first). I usually spend most my time parked in the Comments feed and have yet to approve something I found there, which is the only place I can think of where I'd find something "in the middle."

Chiming in (may end up regretting this) but the way I see it, stuff you favorite tends to get less scrutiny than an approval because it's not really affecting much on the site outside of your own list and a number on the image. Approvals, on the other hand, have your name on them, and also affect the quality of the site as a whole (every little bit counts, so to speak) so there's additional pride or stigma to be had when making an approval as opposed to just favoriting an image.

Make sense?

For me, it's the opposite. I only favorite things when I like it so much that looking at it again makes me appreciate it even more. This is a much higher standard than what I usually find approval or upload worthy.

So from what I see that's 3 new Janitors (in Trial, at least) since this thread started/albert said he'd take Janitor applications, pretty cool. Kinda wonder why janitor trials haven't been used at all between 2013 and now, though. Was there just no need for new janitors?

Albert said a few days ago he's satisfied with the current janitors.

It's kinda weird that your link leads to a date-sorted version while the sitemap link leads to http://danbooru.donmai.us/reports/janitor_trials

Is the date-sorted one's link restricted to higher levels or is it just not on the site map?

The /janitor_trials page has existed for as long as I know. It just lists all janitor trials in order, and this page is where the admins create new janitor trials.

The report one was just added like a day ago and its purpose is having more information about current test janitors so the admins can easily check how they're doing.

Neither one is restricted by level.

What's with those promote/demote links, though? Thankfully those don't work, but still, is that another caching issue, like issue #2156?

The ones on the report are a caching bug, though the ones on the /janitor_trials page just appear for everyone.

Janitor trials were a manual process and I tended to forget about them. The aim of the automated system is to hopefully introduce a steady stream of new blood.

If you want to nominate someone just suggest to them to message me.

The report reveals some interesting data. I'm a bit scared to act on it. Maybe it's a good idea to separate approval authorization into a role independent from user level.
