Auto-deletion appeal?

Screencaps are usually sort of iffy uploads in the first place, they are usually worse quality and don't have the composition of purpose drawn still art.

Also I think it bears to keep in mind that people are usually biased towards their own uploads so just because something is clearly a keeper to you doesn't mean it's the case for the majority of the userbase.

I'm not a Janitor or a Mod, so I can't see what you're referring to, but especially in the case where you're uploading things for completeness sake there's likely going to be crap in there somewhere. I sometimes get into a conflicted mindset where I think it'd be nice for Danbooru to catalog *everything* relevant, but it really does make sense to be discerning when it comes to adding content lest everything good get swallowed by a sea of crap.

Well, if it's like a cg series or doujin or something that was accepted except for one image, or one drawing by an artist that has hundreds of approved images, that would make sense to complain about. That's really what I was hoping to see here.

On the subject of screencaps, I almost never approve them, for what it's worth. I just don't know what their value is in the vast majority of them (not saying there isn't any value, just that I don't get it).

About the only screencaps I approve are stitches, and only if they come from a decent quality source.

Ah, sorry for giving the wrong impression surasshu. There WAS an issue with that for the Poison Onion set of comics (for FF4), but someone's been watching on those to make sure they get through now (at least it seems that way).

For the screencaps, here's some additional information if it is at all helpful.

Both screencaps were personally done by me. Two different approaches.

The Rosa screencap was done by playing a DVD that has the best version of the opening FMV on it, and using Print Screen to capture it in motion (pausing it brought worse quality). The FMVs on the DVD are much, MUCH greater quality than what you get on the DS screen. You can see very intricate details about her appearance thanks to these caps. I have others of her too, but I have refrained from posting them because I don't want to flood danbooru (however, if allowed, I have a couple of her in the midst of praying/casting a spell that I would post).

The one of Laughing Octopus with Naomi face camo was screencapped using the game's own screen-capture software. You go into its photo album, select to put them in a folder on the main area of the PS3, and from there you can either send it online or transfer it over to a flash drive. That's the entire process, and how I got that screencap.

It's not a matter of correctly tagged or not, it's the image quality. I love One Piece, but those CG sets are kinda... bad.

Isn't that just a matter of point-of-view? Some of those pictures were put on favorites lists so they can't be that bad aka "poorly drawn". #312344 for example is a joy_division image, #319192 a hanaduka was favored by at least one user, #319196 favored by 2 (besides me).

Of course it's subjective. But that's how it works here. You'd go insane if you were to try and define some "objective high quality" guidelines. So the mods have to make a subjective "good enough for Danbooru" judgement, and only if ALL mods decide it's not good enough will it expire after three days. It only takes a single mod to judge it good enough. If it gets auto-deleted, not a single mod or janitor judged it good enough. That's why an appeal like in this thread should only be a rare occurence.

Votes or favorites can't be a metric, because it's too easy to fake them with multiple accounts. I'm not implying that you did, but that's why mods can't approve a pic based on number of votes or favorites.

Anyway, let's not derail this thread into a discussion of the moderation process. There's another thread for that, feel free to continue this discussion there if you like.

Aside from that, people will upvote/favorite sexy images and images with characters they know, every time. I do actually keep the popularity of an image in mind when approving things, but I've seen images with 10+ points that I just couldn't approve based on quality.

Sorry for focussing the discusion on that, and hopefully this'll be my last post here in this thread... It's just a bit frustrating 'cause, Danbooru is the first picture community (with free hentai content) for me where pictures neither are recompressed to a cr*ppy quality nor annoying watermarks are imprinted on them (such as aerisd*es.com) while anybody who wants to share his own library is allowed to.

I just can hope you won't get this wrong, and I really don't want to offend you - I just recently dropped out of the German Wikipedia because noone there can rely on the administrators' or even the community's decisions there. And I just don't want to "waste" any more time with open communities like that -er,yes-.

That doesn't mean I'll be a pure leecher from now on, as long as you won't block this account. ;) But, from now on I'll be keeping an eye on "what would be good for danbooru".

That's why we have moderation in place, generally speaking - to keep it that way.

The source link doesnt work, and even if I undelete the pic, it was posted before that option was implemented, so it's lost. Don't know if an admin can totally erase a picture from the site. Eroquis work is usually not bad, unless its too extreme.
