This is NOT a good replacement, since that search is both too wide and too narrow to replace the pool. The search is too wide, because it will turn up pictures which feature Alphonse Elric and exactly one girl (e.g. this); and it is also too narrow, as it will exclude pictures which would belong in the pool but have two or more girls (e.g. this).
Usually the removal of a pool requires soliciting feedback in topic #8282 and letting the rest of the community have a chance to weigh in. In this case, the pool was simply blanked by a single user who ignored the usual protocol, so there shouldn't be a problem with reverting it to its previous state if you want. Or open a new forum topic, since the comment section of an individual post is not the best space for discussing things that affect the site as a whole.
I looked for a bit and couldn't find much. However I assume it's probably a very similar methods to a tailor of the time. You'd probably be going to specialized smiths (if you were nobility, or at least someone with some serious money depending on the time period) who were masters of their craft; so I doubt they would make many mistakes that they couldn't easily fix. That being said you probably had a decent amount of shoddy work, because foot soldiers still needed armor too.
From my knowledge, most of the common grunts had to settle for gambesons and with some having small metal plates added for some extra protection. Only the big shots really had plate armor.

Indeed, the use of a gambison as well as Jack-chains and Kettle helmets and probably metal Mitten gauntlets. Full plate was somthing you needed a team to wear ( a squire to help put on and a armourer/blacksmith to keep in working condition.)
