Testicular torsion is a pathological condition exclusive to men that happens when the spermatic cord (from which the testicle is suspended) twists, cutting off the blood supply to the testicle. Is more frequent during puberty and is usually caused by traumatic injuries to the scrotum or after excesive vigorous physical activity.
The main symptom is severe and constant testicular pain. It can be treated surgically if detected on time. Failure to do so may lead to permanent infertility.
