Because Fukukitaru's name was too long so they had to shave off two characters somehow to fit within the 18 characters (space and punctuation included) limit for English/Latin alphabet names. So Machikane Fukukitaru wound up becoming Matikanefukukitaru.

True... but I noticed this started with Kazesoyogu. Which confused the hell out of me. I thought the owner started a new clan back in 89.
