I guess it's the fact that Mario is actually Doopliss, the group being unaware that their friend has been replaced by a doppelganger.
Another potential factor would be the fact that they're eating a pig, something the people of the town got turned into by Doopliss, implying that they're eating a person, and also the fact that the mayor is just watching while they do so.

You sort of deserved that Futo, for what you did then and now.

The "nice voice" comment could be referring to his VA, Nakamura Yuuichi, e.g. Gray Fullbuster of Fairy Tail, Gojou Satoru of Jujutsu Kaisen, and Hawks of Boku no Hero Academia. That could also explain the "gap moe" comment, since he has a young boy-like body, but the VA has a baritone voice.
