winchester model 1894
A lever-action repeating rifle designed in 1894 by John Browning. By far the most popular of the Winchester rifle family, the Model 1894 was the first commercially-available rifle to chamber cartridges using smokeless powder and is the best-selling high-powered rifle in US history, with more than 7 million units sold. Reproductions are still in production today.
As opposed to its predecessor, the Model 1873, the Model 1894 can be distinguished by its rounded receiver (the 1873 is more blocky) as well as being smaller in size by comparison. However, like the Model 1873, the Model 1894 features a grey-colored steel receiver, as opposed to the yellowish gunmetal seen on the Model 1866.
