unicorn gundam
A fictional manned giant robot from the Gundam mechaverse.
The titular mecha (and plot device) from Gundam Unicorn (2010). The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam is the "key" to Laplace's Box, a MacGuffin purported to contain a secret that could overthrow the Earth Federation government. Possession of the Unicorn Gundam is therefore hotly disputed, as it also acts as a map to the Box by way of a "La+ program" installed in its operating system.
Its physical design is a throwback to the RX-78-2, being a "white mobile suit" armed with a set of beam sabers mounted behind its head, a beam rifle with power equivalent to that of a battleship class beam weapon, and a shield with a viewport. It also incorporates concepts from its chronological predecessor, the Nu Gundam, by adapting the Nu Gundam's cockpit-lined Psycho Frame throughout its entire body (visible in NT-D mode) and having the ability to use funnels or bits (though it requires the NT-D to be active and the enemy to have said remote weapons so the Unicorn could hijack them).
Upon its awakening, the Unicorn Gundam also gains abilities similar to the Nu Gundam's: The Shield Funnels (Unicorn Gundam's shields with a beam gatling gun attached on each), which has both offensive and defensive capabilities not unlike the Fin Funnels and the ability to create a phenomena similar to the Axis Shock.

The Unicorn Gundam's popularity led to a 1:1 statue of it, with partial Unicorn Mode to Destroy Mode transformation, to replace the original Gundam statue in Diver City, Odaiba, Tokyo.
