A flight helmet is a special type of helmet primarily worn by pilots or (military) aircrew. It largely replaced the softer aviator hats in modern times. Flight helmets provide impact protection. They often feature a visor, headset or microphone for both communication and noise attenuation, mounting system for night vision device and head-mounted display, as well as compatibility with oxygen masks.
