nemophila (flower)
Nemophila, commonly called baby blue eyes, is a genus of flowering plants in the family Boraginaceae. Commonly represented by Nemophila menziesii.
Nemophila flowers are bell/cup shaped, with five stamens and five rounded petals, sometimes with notched tips. They usually come in a range of shades from light blue to purple or pink, becoming white near the stamens. Some species are white and occasionally spotted (Nemophila maculata). The leaves are lobed or toothed.
Not to be confused with Persian speedwell, which has somewhat similar flowers, but unlike Nemophila, Persian speedwell flowers have four petals and two conspicuously protruding stamens.
