Chiyoda is the second ship of the Chitose-class light aircraft carriers in Azur Lane.
Character jointly designed by Suisai and Yuui Hutabakirage.
Appearance
Chiyoda has medium length red hair with a single hair ribbon on the left side, red eyes and fox ears on her head.
She wears a black and gold fox mask on her head. She loosely wears a white kimono with a dark red and gold floral pattern on the sleeves, a black halterneck, red pleated skirt, white tabi socks and geta sandals. She has brass claw rings on her fingers that serve as a means of controlling her shikigami.
She along with her sister got a summer CG upon being introduced into the game. She wears a red bikini with golden high heals, a black choker and a flower in her hair. She also has a beachball with her.
Personality
Chiyoda has a playful and mischievous personality. She often slips protective charms in the the commanders clothes.
Both she and Chiyoda are good Kagura dancers, they often rehearse with Fuso and Yamashiro.
History
Chiyoda originally built as the second vessel of the Chitose Class seaplane tenders launched on the 19th November 1937. She along with her sister were both converted and reclassified as Light Aircraft Carriers. As a carrier she participated in the Battle of the Philippine Sea and the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
She would finally meet her end during the battle of Cape Engano on the 25th October 1944 where she along with Zuikaku, Zuihou and Chiyoda were used as a sacrificial decoy force to lure the American fleet away from the landing beaches in the Philippines. She was crippled the 4 bombs dropped by US carrier aircraft and was ultimately finished off by surface gunfire from a surface task force consisting of 4 cruisers and 9 destroyers. Chiyoda sank with her entire crew of 1,470 officers and men, there were no survivors.
Trivia
- Both Chitose and herself (plus Ryuuhou) are classified as Zuihou-class CVLs in-game (technically Shouhou-class) despite Zuihou and the Chitose-class CVLs not having anything in common apart from being conversions of seaplane tenders.
- She is voiced by Hitomi Sekine who also provided the voice for Chitose.
