almond eye (racehorse)
Japanese racehorse. Sired by Lord Kanaloa and foaled by Fusaichi Pandora.
Almond Eye is Japan's most successful racehorse, having won 9 G1 races, breaking the 7 G1 win record held by several other racehorses, including Kitasan Black, who retired the year before she became famous and Vodka with the fillies; a Triple Tiara; the world record on 2400 m (2:20.6, during the 2018 Japan Cup). She was also the leader of Japan's greatest earning racehorses, surpassing T.M. Opera O's record, until fellow-Silk Racing owned/Lemaire ridden Equinox surpassed her at his last race at the 2023 Japan Cup.
Almond Eye is a bay mare with a star-and-snip marking and no leg markings. She usually ran with a black hood with a white shadow roll.
She had 4 foals so far, Aaron's Rod (2022, bay colt by Epiphaneia), Promesa al Mundo (2023, chestnut colt by Maurice), "Almond Eye's 2024" (bay filly by Kitasan Black) and "Almond Eye's 2025" (bay colt by Equinox, notable for being the child of both of Silk Racing's greatest horses and for his lack of markings.)
