A Japanese electronic music band formed in 1978 by Haruomi Hosono, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Yukihiro Takahashi. A pioneer in the use of synthesizers, samplers, and sequencers, the band helped define the synthpop, technopop, and electro genres.
