YAMATO2520 ヤマトにーごーにーぜろ ヤマト2520
A 1994 OVA sequel to the original Uchuu Senkan Yamato science fiction anime series from the 70s.
Yamato 2520 is set several hundred years after the original Yamato.
It was created by Nishizaki Yoshinobu, the original producer for the first Yamato TV series. However, Nishizaki was sued by Matsumoto Leiji for breach of copyright, since Matsumoto owns parts of the rights to the franchise and Nishizaki did not ask for his permission to create this sequel.
Ultimately, Yamato 2520 was left unfinished after only three episodes (of ten planned) were released and the series was cancelled indefinitely. The first OVA episode was released in November 21, 1994. The last OVA (episode 3) was released in August 25, 1996. Each episode is 60 minutes long.
The OVA series features mechanical designs by Syd Mead and a soundtrack by jazz musician David Matthews.
