Polish standard infantry rifle chambered in 5.56 NATO. A modernised Wz.88 "Tantal" wich was loosely based around the AK-74 and several polish prototypes, most notably being the only eastern rifle to incorporate a rachet 3-round burst that passed on to the Beryl.
The name "Beryl" means "berylium" in polish and it is the rifle's disignation given to after it's introduction. In the polish military firearms were traditionally designated after periodic table elements and minerals eg. Wz.88 Tantal (tantalium), P83 Wanad (vanadium), WKW Tor (thorium), PM84 Glauberyt (glauberite).
