An open-bolt submachine gun of Israeli origin, introduced in 1954 and designed by Major Uziel Gal of the IDF. The Uzi is more compact, cheaper to produce and lighter compared to previous SMG designs, thanks to its telescoping bolt design and stamped sheet metal components. The weapon is recognizable by its squared-off shape, an angular trigger guard, prominent iron sights, and a grip-loaded magazine.
This tag is reserved for the full-sized Uzi, which is commonly depicted with a metal triangular collapsible stock.
