A person who operates a train. The driver is in charge of the mechanical operation of the train, train speed, and all of the train handling (also known as brake handling).
A train driver may also be known as an engine driver, engineman, engineer, locomotive driver, locomotive handler, locomotive operator, train operator, or motorman.
