Tanikaze is the fourteenth ship of the Kagerou-class destroyers in Kantai Collection.
She (like her sisters and division mates from the 17th Destroyer Division) wears a short-sleeved white and blue button-up serafuku with a yellow scarf (similar to Yukikaze) on top of a Kagerou-class standard pleated skirt along with whitethighhighs. On her back is her rigging, with an attached Depth Charge. Like most of the Kagerou-class, she wears white gloves. She wields two pistol-like guns, one resembles the standard 12.7 cm twin gun, the other resembles an Anti-Air gun.
For her D remodel (which is not an actual second remodel), she is essentially the same as in her remodel except that her rigging is bigger similar to Hamakaze's B remodel which also the portrait serves as an art refresher. Another on her damaged CG is she has a more noticeable small breasts compare to before.
She speaks like a stereotypical Edokko despite being built in Osaka. Thus, she is the opposite to Ryuujou (who speaks in Kansai-ben but was built in Yokohama, just nearby Tokyo). Also, because of her accent, she has a good relationship with Suzukaze who shares the same accent, and is sometimes shown sprouting Burontisms.
She is a frequent victim of breast envy due the fact that she is only one in 17th Destroyers Division who has flat chest and is often compared with her sisters and division mates Urakaze and Hamakaze who have large breasts.
