A U.S.-based fast food restaurant chain that originated in 1962 in Irvine, California by founder Glenn Bell. Taco Bell is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc. The restaurant offers a variety of Mexican-inspired foods, including tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, novelty and specialty items, and a variety of value menu items. As of 2018, Taco Bell serves more than 2 billion customers annually with 7,072 restaurants, more than 93% of which are owned and operated by independent franchisees and licensees.
