Stephen Robert Irwin (22 February 1962 – 4 September 2006), nicknamed the "Crocodile Hunter" was an Australian zookeeper and television personality.
Irwin became prominent as the titular host of the 1996 wildlife television series "The Crocodile Hunter."
Irwin died in Batt Reef on September 2006 after being repeatedly stabbed by a smooth stingray in the chest, resulting in his heart being pierced by the stingray's barb. Irwin was supposed to be filming for his final documentary Ocean's Deadliest.
