A type of antique Japanese backpack. Consists of a rack with shoulder straps designed to carry firewood, small logs, and other loads. Some have a plate at the bottom to support the load, while others are completely flat and use rope to bind the load. The historical shoiko was constructed with wood, but not all shoiko need be made of wood.
