Having arisen from a deep, long slumber, this archangel has inherited the will of the supreme primarch, Lucifer. Though Sandalphon previously had no role to play, he now bears the burden of carrying out vengeance in hopes of fulfilling a promise. Debuting as the central antagonist of the event "What Makes The Sky Blue" in 2017, Sandalphon was originally intended as a simple one-off villain for an anniversary event. His popularity with the players, however, caused Cygames to turn WMTSB into a trilogy of events, with him starring in both the second and third parts, being recruitable in both.
He has gained several alternate forms due to his popularity, including a Water Summer version in 2019, an Earth Grand version in 2020, a Wind Valentines version in 2023, and a Light Grand version in 2024. Currently, he is the only playable character to possess two distinct Grand forms.
During the 10th Anniversary stream, it was announced that he would be added as a playable character to Granblue Fantasy: Relink in May 2024.
