An American .223 calibre/5.56×45mm NATO semi-automatic rifle produced by Sturm, Ruger and Co. Introduced in 1973, it was designed as a lightweight and rugged varmint rifle for farmers and ranchers. It uses a Garand-style action with a short stroke, fixed piston, moving cylinder gas system. The Mini-14 resembles a scaled-down M14 rifle.
Available in traditional one-piece wooden stock and folding stock with a pistol grip.
The Mini-30 is a variant that fires 7.62×39mm round.
