In their first appearance in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, they were distantly related to the Zora. They were mostly humanoid, save for a few feathers and a beak where a nose would be on humans.
In their appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, they are much more bird-like, and are capable of flight. They are fully feathered and multicolored.
