プリンセスロワイヤルイラストコンテスト プリンセスロワイヤルイラコン
An illustration contest, themed on battle heroines in mythologies and fairy tales, held by Pixiv and 2.5-Jigen TV internet television company from October to November 2012.
Like many Pixiv contests, non-winning entries were often taken down by artists after the contest period ended, leaving Danbooru and similar archive sites as one of the only places preserving the works.
The contest ran from October 11 to November 28, 2012. Entries were tagged with プリンセスロワイヤルイラストコンテスト.
The goal was to "draw an original fairy tale or mythologically-themed heroine in a modern, fantasy, or even science fiction setting. Be sure to include their trademark “battle” style (e.g. superpower or weapons)!" [1]
For a given character, multiple winners could be selected.
Contest results were announced on 2012-12-19. There were 3068 people who entered. Winners received a "2.5 Dimension TV Award", which meant ¥50,000 prize money. While the original announcement said 20 or more winners would be selected, in fact 50 winners were selected:
