The PPS-43 (Пистолет-пулемёт Судаева) is a submachine gun chambered in 7.62×25mm Tokarev, developed by Alexei Sudayev as an alternative to the PPSh-41 with lower manufacturing cost and lower rate of fire. The gun has open-bolt blowback mechanism, predominant sheet metal parts, a pistol grip, and a top-folding stock. The magazines of both weapons are not interchangeable.
The PPS-43 and its variants were used extensively by the Soviet forces during World War II and were later adopted by post-war militaries of several communist/socialist countries.
