Headlights for cars that are hidden and flip or rotate into position when engaged. While they were often seen in sports cars in the 90s and earlier for the aerodynamic benefit while disengaged, they ultimately fell out of use due to advancements in fixed headlight design and stricter pedestrian safety requirements in certain regions.
The last major production car to feature this design trait was the C5 Chevrolet Corvette. Certain models with pop-ups (primarily Japanese cars from the 80s and 90s) are commonly modified so that the headlights only open a portion of the way. Pop-ups modified in this manner are often referred to as "sleepy eye" headlights.
This tag is only for posts that depict pop-up headlights in the engaged position.
