The Antonov AN-225 Mriya (Dream) was an oversized cargo transport aircraft. It was considered the largest airplane in the world and is used to transport super-heavy loads. It was built by the Soviet Union to help transport the parts of the rockets made for the Soviet space program. Besides its great size, the AN-225 is known for transporting the "Buran" space shuttle on its back. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the plane was transferred to Ukraine, where the Antonov company resides.
In 2022, the plane was lost during the Russo-Ukrainian war when Russian airstrike delivered from a helicopter targeted its hangar, starting a fire.
