PJ (Precision/Jazz) bass is a generic term for any bass guitar that has precision-style pickups in the neck position and a jazz-style pickup in the bridge position. Precision-style pickups are recognizable by the fact that they consist of two offset rectangular blocks stacked on top of one another, while jazz-style pickups usually look like a single bar.
