Otto Eduard Leopold von Bismarck (April 1, 1815 – July 30, 1898) was the first Chancellor of the German Empire. He was known as the "Iron Chancellor" for his strong-willed personality, as well as his foreign and domestic political policies, which solidified Germany as a major European power.
