Number Girl (ナンバーガール) was a prominent Japanese rock band formed in 1995.
The band was known for their energetic and innovative music, blending elements of punk, alternative rock, and indie rock. The original lineup consisted of Mukai Shutoku (vocals and guitar), Tabuchi Hisako (guitar), Inazawa Ahito (bass guitar), and Fujisawa Akinobu (drums). Number Girl released several albums and gained a dedicated following during their active years. Some of their notable albums include "School Girl Bye Bye," "Sappukei," and "Num-Heavymetallic."
The band disbanded in 2002, but they left a lasting impact on the Japanese music scene and are considered influential in the indie and alternative rock genres. Mukai Shutoku, the frontman and creative force behind the band, went on to pursue a solo career and was involved in other musical projects. In 2020, Number Girl reunited for a series of live performances and released new music, much to the delight of their fans.
