Napoleon Bonaparte, or later known as Emperor Napoleon I was a French military leader and politician.
Famous for his military conquest campaign that turned France (which was severely crippled after the revolution and civil war) into a superpower. His campaign to conquer the entire continent caused several great European powers at that time to unite together in order to defeat him. After his final defeat in 1815, at the Battle of Waterloo, he was exiled to the remote Helena island and would die there in 1821.
Despite his defeat, Napoleon's campaign has tipped the balance of power of the entire continent, with the dissolution of the 1,000-year-old Holy Roman Empire, severely weakened the Spanish and Portuguese Empire and causing them to lose almost all of their new world colonies, and bringing France back into the European political stage being a notable example.
