Edit
MyHouse.wad is a DOOM II tribute map by DoomWorld user, Veddge, to his recently deceased childhood friend, based upon a map said friend originally created of his own house.
Requires the latest version of GZDoom and an official DOOM II IWAD.
In reality, MyHouse.wad (or MyHouse.pk3) is a surrealist and psychological horror experience, inspired by the novel House of Leaves. It very quickly received public attention due to its extremely well-done use of mapping features and ambiguous, yet melancholic implied story. It features looping versions of the house, with slightly different features, some being geometrically/spatially impossible, seamless transitions to other locations, such as an abstract, brutalist, backrooms-like maze, an airport, a liminal bathhouse, and many more, all with the same architectural and furniture layout of the original house. Associated with the DoomWorld post is a journal of Veddge's mapping progress, coping with the loss, and as is built up throughout, his deteriorating mental health in lieu of resurgent bad memories and almost supernatural events through unceasing nightmares, contributing to the "unfiction" and immersion.
The DoomWorld post may be found here. The actual map file is MyHouse.pk3. The name "MyHouse.wad" is a reference to a mapping trend dating back to the 90's; it was common for people to build Doom maps based on their own houses", and these became known generically as "myhouse.wad" maps.
