Lao Gan Ma (Chinese: 老干妈; also called Laoganma) or Old Godmother is a popular brand of chili sauce and other condiments originating from China.
The brand was founded by Tao Huabi in 1996 and has since gained widespread popularity both in China and internationally. The most famous product is the "Lao Gan Ma Chili Crisp," which is made from chili peppers, soybean oil, fermented soybeans, garlic, and other spices. It has a rich, spicy, and slightly sweet flavor, and is often used as a topping or ingredient in various dishes, such as rice, noodles, and stir-fries.
The distinctive label features a portrait of Tao Huabi, which has become iconic.
