鶯 うぐいす(鳥) ウグイス(鳥)

Latin: Horornis diphone
Japanese: 鶯 uguisu

A small, drab, secretive perching bird. It is soft brown with a pale belly and eyebrow.

The distinctive breeding call of the uguisu can be heard throughout much of Japan from the start of spring.
