ハン・ジュリ ジュリ(ストリートファイター) 한주리 Juri ジュリ
Han Juri (katakana: ハン・ジュリ, hangul: 한주리) is a character in the Street Fighter series. She makes her debut in Super Street Fighter IV. She is the first Korean character in the Street Fighter series, and the only one that uses Taekwondo so far. She is voiced by Kitamura Eri in Japanese and Jessica Strauss in English.
She is described as being an "evil, mean and nasty" member of S.I.N. who is a main character in the SFIV storyline. The character was created by request of many Korean fans who wished for Capcom to add a Korean character in Street Fighter, something already established by SNK and Namco.
She is depicted as being overtly sadistic and often makes denigrating and sexually suggestive remarks toward her opponents. According to Menat, this cruel demeanor is simply a facade to hide her emotional pain and suffering as a result of her traumatic experience after her parents were killed by M. Bison, who blinded her left eye, along with her mistreatment after she was captured as a test subject by Shadaloo and S.I.N.
Juri's left eye was replaced with a "Feng Shui engine," a device capable of enhancing one's power with ki energy, in which she typically covered it with her eyepatch or diagonal bangs. Normally, she has purple eyes, but she may appear as a heterochromic when she uses the Feng Shui engine in her left eye, causing it to become blue.
Ironically, Juri is initially met with negative reception from some Korean fanbases, primarily due to her "non-authentic" appearance, albeit these negative connotations would be dissipated afterwards. Her creation is also seen as a rib to The King of Fighters as all the Korean characters in that franchise, particularly Kim Kaphwan, are either representatives of Justice or evildoers who redeem themselves, while she is (at least initially) a servant of evil.
